Loy Kratong Festival

Loy Kratong at a glance
Loy Kratong Festival is a festival celebrated annually in Thailand and certain part of Laos on the full moon in November. "Loi" means "to float" and a "krathong" is traditionally made from a section of banana tree trunk. People place a candle and incense sticks also firework in their krathongs, then float them on a local river or pond. When they push away their krathong, they ask for forgiveness in polluting the waterways and also for good luck in the coming months.

My First Loy Kratong
This is my first Loy Kratong in Thailand. Actually I want to go to Ayuthaya to see that festival. Due to my assignments (since it so many..) I go to Thamassat to see that festival. That festival took place near with Thamassat hospital, so you just take a walk. Actually the festival start at 7 pm, but you can go earlier.

Lots of stands that sell so many things, from dress, watch and also food. I found fruit salad, and it very yummy (but I forgot to take that picture). There are also lots of games stands. Just remembering a night market in Indonesia when I was child.

I bought my kratong and floated it in the pond, just like another people. I make a wish to God, so I can do well in my study here. The Kratong price is varied, you can found from the cheapest until the expensive one. My Kratong only 20 bath.

There are also the selection of Kratong Princess. But I did not follow that festival until it finish.

In the midnight, the festival will be finnish, and before that, there will be a lot of firework in the sky.
